Lease of Land by the Library
The Shorewood-Troy Library and Shorewood Plaza, LLC, owned by the Bill Michas and the George Michas families, are finalizing a 20-year lease deal for the approximate acre of land across the street from the Library.  The lease terms are $1 of rent per year.  The Michas family have been long-time supporters of the Library; the land the facility currently sits on at 650 Deerwood Dr. was donated by the Michas family.  Bill Michas says, “I hope that this very favorable lease will allow the Library District to continue to provide its excellent service to the residents of the Shorewood-Troy Library District.”

The Library hopes to use the lot as potential parking for the library in the future.  There is also the possibility of expanding the current facility onto the existing parking lot to provide needed additional square-footage, with the new parking lot being the primary parking lot for the library.  Any expansion of the library’s facility would be subject to a referendum successfully passing.

No definitive plans for the land has been determined at this time.  For more details or questions, contact Library Director Jennie Mills at or at 815-725-1715.
