Part-Time Circulation Assistant

19 hours a week; days, nights and rotating weekends.
$11.00 / hour 

The Shorewood-Troy Public Library has an opening for a part-time circulation clerk. The position will be approximately 19 hours a week and will consist of: 

  1. Providing a great customer service experience for our patrons,
  2. Checking in and out items,
  3. Sorting items alphabetically,
  4. Answering the library’s main phone number and transferring phone calls,
  5. Assisting patrons with their informational needs, and
  6. Other duties as assigned.
Hours will be days, nights, and rotating weekends; some flexibility in scheduling is desirable.

Candidates must be able to multi-task. The job requires standing for long stretches of time.

The successful candidate will be able to work days, nights, and weekends. Necessary qualifications include:

  1. A minimum of a high school degree or a GED, with an LTA preferred,
  2. Strong front-line customer service skills and experience, and
  3. A great sense of humor!
Some library experience is preferred.

Normal office skills such as the ability to work with Microsoft Office products, phone skills, and the ability to lift 15 pounds are required.  Experience with Polaris preferred.

The salary for the position is $11.00 an hour.  The Shorewood-Troy Public Library is an equal opportunity employer.

Volunteer

If you are a current high school student who would like to volunteer at the library, drop off an Application Form and a signed Volunteer Policy Form at the reference desk (paper copies are are also available). Responsibilities include shifting books, cleaning shelves, cutting and folding promotional materials, etc.
